Time to change your life.

Is it even possible for you to change your life? A lot of people, more than there should be, are unhappy with their lives. But what are they doing about it? Usually nothing. People talk about how shitty their lives are and want change, but are they not taking the actions to change?

People tend to have a list of excuses for why they are unable to change their lives:

  1. No time
  2. No money
  3. Don't like change
  4. They may be unhappy, but they are comfortable in their current life.
  5. They are married and have kids.
  6. They are too old.
  7. It's too late.
  8. They just need something to complain about.

No one said that changing your life would be easy; if it were, then you wouldn't have a problem doing it. At the same time, it really isn't that difficult to change your life, even in baby steps. If you really wanted to, you would.

You were able to get through high school, college, getting married, and having children. All of these things are very difficult, life-changing events.

The other problem people have is that they tend to go through the motions of life milestones. Did you even want any of these? Or did society tell you what you wanted, so that must be the life you want?

When you were a child, you were asked what it was you wanted to do with yourself, and you gave an answer. What happened to those hopes and dreams? Why didn't you advocate for yourself and actually follow through? It's never too late to accomplish your hopes and dreams.

Here is a play-by-play of how to change your life- of how to get the life you wanted- the life you dreamed of having as a child:

  1. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
  2. Stop giving a fuck about what other peoples opnions. The people who are the loudest about you wanting to change your life are the most dangerous people. They are the people who are holding you back. When you start to succeed in changing yourself for the better, they will try to make you feel guilty for wanting more for yourself. Get rid of them.
  3. Write down everything you want in life. What do you want? It is that simple. Yes, I am about to quote the Notebook: "Stop thinking about what everyone wants. Stop thinking about what they want, what your family wants. What do YOU want?" Yes, it is that simple. It is your life; make it the best-seller.
  4. After you have written down what you want in life, write out goals in order to succeed in getting what you want. Make a plan for how to accomplish everything. Small changes today equals life time of happiness later. You are already miserable now. What difference does it make if you are a little bit more uncomfortable in order to achieve the end goal?
  5. Fuck everyone who tries to tell you that you are not worth it. You deserve to be happy and live a fulfilling life just as much as they do. You don't want to be on your deathbed with "what ifs."
  6. Stop putting everyone else first. No one is putting you first. That is why you are currently in this predicament in the first place. Time for you to play the game too. How else do you think those people are getting ahead, and you feel like you are stuck?
  7. You are not a cat. You do not have nine lives; stop acting as you do. You are lying when you say, "I'll do that later, when the kids are in bed, when the kids are old enough for school, when they go to college." You know these are lies you tell yourself. This is what we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better and keep it on the back burner.
