In Honour of You

A poem to You Who Will Remain in my Heart

Now You Lie There

So near, yet so far from me

The music swells

The song resounds

In honor of you!

.

You stay with me for a while longer

Then we part forever

The priest speaks of eternity’s words

Weaving you into spirit

In honor of you!

.

We bear you the final way

One rose for each year

On earth

To follow you

In honor of you!

.

My final word to you,

“God’s peace on your journey”

And the car’s red taillights

Quietly fade

In honor of you!

.

It’s done

Your life is complete

We gather where you once sat

Remember your warmth and weep

In honor of you!

.

Now here I sit

You are no more

Hard decisions

Await me without you

Will I make the right ones?

.

To keep you in my heart

Yet still move forward

To hold your memory close

My future a symbiosis

In honor of you!

Oh Henrik, my heart hurts for your loss even though he was suffering. This was beautiful and poignantly sad. Big hugs and love to you as you navigate life going forward :)
