Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover

Hard to remember not to judge a book by its cover

Because a gem that's hidden doesn't reflect any light

How long can it hope, to one day shine it's light

In the sight of someone with the right intention

Because it's what's on the outside that attracts the attention

And what's on the inside that creates the intention

To keep on reading, or to keep on being with them

But remember, not judge a book by its cover

Because not every actor is on a stage or a screen

Fake smiles make us forget our lines for the scene

There's good and bad in all of us

But there's imposters among us, not everyone wants to love us

Some just have the lust of a simple desire, then aside they'll shove us

Or just the simple goal to stand above us

So what is trust other than a belief or conviction

That a relationship with intention won't end in affliction

Not to be another name on a list of the victims

Not to sound pessimistic, but to be realistic

Because not all devils have horns and of course not all heroes wear capes

But a rose is sure to have thorns and a vine is sure to have grapes

Just remember, not judge a book by its cover

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
