This One's For You

As an Oakland, CA resident, violence, whether with guns or not, is something that is all too common. Being so strongly against it, I wrote what was on my mind, and here it is. This was inspired by and written to the song "New Malcom X" by Sy Ari Da Kid; however, this is an edited version.

We At The Courts On A Saturday, We Finna Hoop

Hit The Studio Later And Hop In The Booth

Cherish Every Second, We In The Photo Booth

All These People Know Is Animosity, They Hatin' Me

Can't Let These People Get To Me Or The Team

These People Face Paintin', They Green With Envy

Constantly Comin After Me And My Team

Honestly I Ain't Tryna Kill Nobody

Momma Can't Sleep At Night, She Miss Her Baby

Drownin' In Tears Thinkin' Back On All Those Years He Was In The Streets

Wishin' She Had Tucked Him In The Sheets

She Thinkin' Back On That Halloween Night, When He Went To Get Those Treats

She Know That When It All Started

In The Streets, All They Know Is Beef

Tryna Cook But Ain't Got The Grill Started

Always Checking Somebody But Ain't Got No List

If They Wanna Kill Somebody Go Ahead And Enlist

If You In The Streets With Yo Finger On The Trigger, Don't Pull It

You'll Be In Court In A Suit

Pull Up To The Courts And Hoop

Let Him Go Today, Pull Up To The Bay And Enjoy The Day

For Every Man With A Mom, This One's For You

For Every Momma With A Baby Boy, This One's For You

Hold Him Tight And Keep Him Close To You

Raise Him Right And In The End He'll Take Care Of You

For Everyone That's Taken The Life Of Another, Shame On You

For Everyone Out There, This One's For You.

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
