If only I could talk to you now

But I know that you just don’t know how

I know you are still with me here

But you are faraway even though you are near

I cherish my memories of us long ago

When we would converse to and fro

I miss the mother that you once were

But now your thoughts are in a blur

Dementia has changed your mind you see

I am unable to communicate as I used to once with thee

I cherish the person you are now and also the person you were then

And I will always love you even when

You are not here with me anymore

I will remember the memories I have in store

Of us together throughout time

So I can lock them in this heart of mine

from your loving daughter.
