Fast Friends

By Tabitha HinkleyPublished a day ago 1 min read
Universe of souls

We make fast friends

We talk easily and with ease

Conversations of odds and ends

A kindness not deeply appeased

Similarities in what we do

One for comfort the other for laughter

Both in attempt to hold back sad views

Never quite at that happily ever after

We both hold out hands of false happiness

People are always trying to grab more

Always a slight tone of unhappiness

Someone’s foot is always halfway in the door

We use the term fake it until you make it

We carefully navigate new water

We smile even though inside we are lit

We shine even in mucky deep water

When finding true kindness we cling

Desperate to feel

Never looking for that quick fling

Always coming with a big grin

Our light is very apparent

Our laughter is a contagious bug

We always please and are pleasant

Everybody sees us as if drugged

Our souls hardly ever really noticed

No one taking the time to know us

Always trying to steal our light unnoticed

Always trying to steal our mellifluous

love poems
