Icky Sticky Spider Web
Nature's most talented weaver
Hand reaches out, mindlessly touching empty space
Then fingers feel something else
something strange and sticky
something that shouldn't be there
I pull my hand back, a sigh of annoyance,
shaking off the threaded stickiness
I find the source and stare in disgust
A spider web
An icky sticky spider web
I reach a hand out this time to remove the threaded sticky mass
And then my eyes catch another sight
The creator of the web itself
A creepy crawly, icky spider
I think of ways to rid of the spider and its icky sticky web
And then my eyes notice something else
The spider though small
moves with such elegant grace
circling the web with such will and determination
Weaving the pieces of its web I've destroyed
like a crafted artist, nature's most talented weaver
Its not just an icky sticky web anymore
I find myself admiring the pattern
A symmetrical pattern, like waves
how the spider perfectly spins each part with focus and care
I don't draw back in disgust anymore
Instead, I'm mesmerized by both spider and web

Ooh I can feel the very real feeling of accidentally walking into a web (ugh!). I’m now questioning every web I’ve ever destroyed. This was fun read!! ✨
