Thoughts unsure

as we sit together

My mind is whirling, horribly second guessing,

I steal a glance at you

Within your own eyes sparks hesitance

Yet neither of us says a word

My busy mind shifts to memories

of every shared moment between us

Some memories,

the first to intrude my mind, impossible to forget

Others small, nearly forgotten

until they dance softly across my mind

A memory of an afternoon we laughed

A time we found out each other's favorite shows

our favorite colors

I clutch on to every one of them afraid to let go,

afraid I'll forget

I wonder, are you thinking of such memories?

Could you feel the same?

A spark begins to ignite as I sneak another glance

You notice me as I notice you

I swear, the distance between us growing closer

I reminisce on every moment and now the here and now

As we sit together just inches apart,

now growing closer until we feel the brush of skin

The warmth of our bodies

I inch closer or maybe it was you

The both of us? I can't be sure

Can you?

It can't be denied there's a connection between us

Your eyes briefly meet mine

A smile dares across my lips as my heart beats fiercely

Is this really happening?
