I Knew I'd Live Forever

The Ponder of a Monday Afternoon

By Abbey NessPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

I Knew I'd Live Forever

Once, I knew I'd live forever,

Don't ask too closely how.

Forever's an awful long time you see,

Much longer and further than now.

I breathed in the darkness of a frosty fall morn,

The chill sticking fast in my lungs,

And my soul paused a moment in jubilant joy,

And I heard a new song being sung.

"I will be here forever,

In the frost or the rain.

I will be here always,

In the tears or the pain.

I will laugh seeing sunsets,

I will dance at sunrise,

I will ever dwell here under snow silvered skies."

For even in death, the soul does not die,

Even in death all will die except I.

I will go on living in the glory apart.

Eternity is sewn on this telltale heart.
