I Hold The Keys

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

Brick by brick I built it high

A monument to every lie

The echoes of love I never knew

Each stone a scar from breaking through

[Prechorus]

No doors no key no open sky

This fortress stands where dreams go die

[Chorus]

Impenetrable walls of glass

A prison where the shadows pass

No one enters no one sees

Trapped inside but I hold the keys

[Verse 2]

The voices fade the air is thin

A world outside I’ll never win

A garden grows but roots don’t reach

Silence speaks where words can’t teach

[Bridge]

I shout I scream but it won’t crack

The weight of time it pushes back

A mirror shows the face I hide

This fragile cage where I confide

[Chorus]

Impenetrable walls of glass

A prison where the shadows pass

No one enters no one sees

Trapped inside but I hold the keys
