I am torn between Keanu Reeves and Sherlock Holmes
The bad boy, narcissist or darling Keanu
If dreams are a haven where we sin without consequence
then may I please be allowed to dote on my two unattainable fantasies
find comfort in my daydreams
without fear of puerile judgement or condemnation.
Which should I fancy more?
May I have em both?
one is fictional
the other real
one lives in books
the other on Mars
Ying and yang
good and bad
i want the good and the bad
therefore, by extension
am I not bad?
Is there not a bit of bad
in every one of us though?
We may pretend
but, it's there
Hiding.
Keanu
Kind, benevolent, humble and unpretentious
women swoon at his name
men admire his lack of le flair
A man of mystery and intrigue
does not crave the spotlight.
Success bounces off his visage
trickling like raindrops
here one moment, gone the next
He revels not in this adoration
instead, renders aid to all
friends, confidantes, family, the homeless
and those we cannot yet see
A shy, unassuming and gorgeous man
who finds it hard to be the celebrity
for anonymity is the place
where he is the happiest
I see how hard you try not to be the hero
we all know you to be
we look to you for redemption
in this uncertain and tenuous age
someone pure in spirit
someone to admire
Be You Keanu
Never change!
Sherlock
Devil may care and cold as steel
genius extraordinaire
narcissistic, yet loved
cares for nought
but the thrill of the chase
not money, not fame nor glory
balks at love
no time, no time
Do not be foolish
and lose your heart to him
he is as unpredictable as the wind
an untameable wild stallion
as a friend, he is true
as a lover, he is hopeless
callouslessly dismissive of affection
wholly engrossed in mind games
played on nature's canvas
by the wicked, disdained and misunderstood
Ah! Sherlock
to unlock and melt the icy heart
beating for the chase
and the aid of Watson
I will dream on
while you know not
what you miss
by denying your heart
to let go, and let love
even in fantasy
one can dream!
Ahhhh! The comfort of a great dream!

Nice poem, could not resist it because Keanu Reeves. Never though of him in a comforting way, well done ❤️
Oh yesss, dreams are so blissful! I don't know what I'd do without them. It's my coping mechanism to get through life. Lol! I loved your poem so much!
Interesting, provocative poem. Captures the struggles of what we cannot have but is right there
