I once knew someone who made you feel powerful,

who made you feel like the ruler of the world

that everything would be okay if your world was ever upside down.

But then he disappeared,

he left me powerless,

clueless about what could happen next

Something was ripped out of me,

I had created a fantasy that could never exist.

There was nothing to do, nothing to say, he became a phantom, my life turned grey, there was silence and pain.

When we were together,

I controlled my emotions, my actions,

And the world I once knew.

Then,

I knew where I went wrong,

I knew what I had to do,

I knew that HE wasn’t the answer to my power,

I was,

I decided what to do, I decided how I felt, I knew what I wanted

Everything changed for the better,

my life turned right side up

I was happy, in control once again

I was alive

Breathing peacefully, as I walked the new life I had

Controlling every single little thing in my power,

It felt so right again

Everything I once knew with him,

I knew again

My life went from a dull grey sky, to a vivid day

Where the days I cried my pain away,

I now laughed, smiling again

I rescued myself from hitting rock solid bottom

Slowly and day by day

My recovery was great

One day I decided to give myself all the answers I needed,

I told myself to be brave, so I was

I told myself to be open minded, so I was

I told myself to be who I wanted to be,

So I became who I am today,

I am independent, courageous, loving.

I am ME.
