An Unofficial Challenge" by Laura Pruett
π»ππππππ
An avalanche of holiday mirth,
All celebrating some kind of a birth.
π
Yes, you read that right,
I am not making this up as I write.
π
While Halloween oozes vibes of the dead,
Where do you think all of the ghosts go after they have fled?
π»
To the eternal world of heaven or hell?
π
No⦠we keep them alive by honoring the dead,
The rebirth of spooky spirits steeped in bloodshed.
π
How do we survive this reaper's remembrance?
Indulging in candy while masked as a ghost with an eerie resemblance!
π»
Sugar levels are now at a high,
Halloween is over, as darkness spills earlier in the sky.
π²
The skeleton trees sway in the crisp late autumn night.
π¦
It's time to plan for our next holiday,
And I am not talking about the one with gifts piled high in the sleigh.
π
'Tis Thanksgiving,
The one with gratitude among the living.
π
A rebirth of gathering with family and friends,
Reflections over the past year and rifts to mend.
π¦
Of course, the meal is hearty!
π
Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pies,
Wearing elastic waist pants would be wise.
π
Decorating your home in reds, oranges and golds,
Pulling out woolly sweaters and coats before it gets cold.
π¦
A holiday as sweet in tradition,
As marshmallows are to yams, oh, what a delicious addition.
π
Thankful and grateful, a time for new beginnings.
π
Jingle, Jingle, Jingle
Is that Kris Kringle?
π π»
A holiday that all began with a birth,
Of little baby Jesus, not sure if it's really on Earth.
π€Άπ»
It's a fluid holiday, it's meaning different to all,
Let's embrace every view; there is no need for a brawl.
π
Christmas and faith across many lands,
To each, it's different, and that's very grand.
π π»
Pine trees of Douglas, Fraser, and Balsam Fir,
Families seeking trees, a sappy woodsy stir.
π
Be as quick as you can!
Christmas shopping must commence with a plan.
π»
Black Friday Deals are out,
Sale, Sale, Sale, shoppers shout!
ποΈ
Christmas is coming, no time to dilly dally.
π
Parents and Grandparents scrambling around,
Decorating, shopping, and baking until sundown!
π«
Children hyped up from holiday treats,
Wildly dance to the Christmas beats,
π π»
As Christmas Eve approaches with cheers,
Magic awaits for a sleigh and reindeers.
π
Santa is coming with his gifts and a prayer.
π π»
For a holiday that began with a humble birth,
To spread love, joy, and peace during our time on Earth!
