Her Colours

The Colours She Breathes

By Grace KentPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

She made her way to bed that night

In her she had no fight,

left,

right,

down the hall and into abyss

She didn’t want to feel in her bed, the emptiness

She was haunted by her past

and scared for her future

holding back only herself

She’s pure like white and you don’t know what you’ve done to her

White in what she wore and white in how she danced

Though her moves were lustful she was being her innocent self

and through the night she danced all the colours

Blue, red, green and purple

This girl wasn’t sitting on no shelf

Gentle green locks hang down past her shoulders

Her blue eyes glisten and enhanced by her red lips

She wore a black low cut top

And red jeans

This girl couldn’t be missed

She moves and her hair sways

Her hips go from side to side

and her legs carry her across the dance floor

This girl’s in her element when she doesn’t hide

The voices tell her that she shouldn’t go out

The voices tell her she has no worth

The voices are wrong but it’s all she can hear

Blue, red, green and purple; first, second, third and fourth

Her scars are pink and faded

But that doesn’t stop her

She’s small and meek

But play her track and you’ll find what it is you seek

She has character and personality

in bundles beyond belief

Her anxiety holds it in her chest

Blue, red, green and purple

Play her track and you’ll see her relief

well, 17 has come and gone

but the dancing queen is still having fun

The tones in her hair, and the glow from her cheeks

even when she’s not, they’re dancing in the sun

You see she doesn’t know what other people see and she never will

but my god,

Blue, red, green and purple

When she dances, she’s not someone you will have forgot

Hi, I’m Grace, I am trying to be more confident in my writing, but how can I unless I share?

Writing has been a passion of mine for a long time and it’s taking some guts for me to put it out there, but I’m excited.

I hope you enjoy my work!
