A couple weeks ago I ordered three mothers day poetry coloring books that an author I read created. I gave my granddaughter one for her mother who didn’t come with them as she had weekend plans with some friends and her mom. She can give that to her mom.
My 10 year old granddaughter was busy beading something for her mother when we were with her. Her eleven year old brother told me he had $3.00 to buy his mother something. So, I decided to give a book to him for his mother. He wasn’t sure. I wasn’t sure either why he would hesitate.
I said, “All you need to do is write or color in your own words, “Happy Mother’s Day” on an inside cover. I gave him some colored pencils and left him to the job.
About an hour later he came into the room we were playing cards and said, “Grandma, I do not like to color.” Not understanding, I said, “That’s okay honey, you don’t have to color.”
His mother stated that she loved to color as did others. Then he said, There is just too much in the book for me to color all of it.” Then I got it! He thought he had to color the entire book before the next day to give it as a book for his mother.
Then I explained to him that his mother would color it or they may share the coloring of the book. They can both enjoy the poetry together too, although the book is more a gift for your mom, I hope you enjoy it too.

It was a fun experience having purchased the books and I realized I may have to give mine away too today as it is a perfect mother and young child adventure into poetry and coloring.
The photos to be colored are more for younger children. The poetry is good for older ages, as it will be difficult for younger ones to read.
This experience has been a fun gift for me!

Such a fascinating poem!!!
What a beautiful story, Denise.
Awww, he thought he gotta colour the whole book in one day. So cute!
This is wonderful, Denise! I love coloring, I think more now than when I was a child. I color with my four-year-old grandson often. It's always a treat. Thanks for sharing, and Happy Mother's Day to you!
