May 8th’s the date
The weather has been great.
Spring has sprung, it was worth the wait.
If you’re going fishing don’t forget the bait.
Hopefully lots of fish on the plate
It will for sure get ate.
Summer’s coming let’s celebrate.
When you leave please shut the gate.
And don’t be out too late.
Tardiness is something that I hate.
Nothing makes me more irate.
When you get home to bed go straight.
I’ve lost control of this rhyme, and maybe also of my mind. Enjoy the day keep those rhymes a flowing.
Plant some seeds get those flowers growing.
I’ll be on my deck this weekend.
Enjoying each and every second!!

Rhyme by Jenny Wettersten
Concrete
"Do you feel safe at home?”
I get asked at every doctor appointment [groan]!
I reply: more so since I sold the mustang [horse],
I would love a mustang car, of course.
I was offered a ’68 in 1981,
$600, I didn’t have it, I was young.
Today I: drove the tractor, ran a chainsaw, felled some trees, ran a splitter, and stacked wood.
High risk activities for a 62-year-old broad.
But first, I took to the woods with my camera, not my spouse.
I was trying to sneak up on a drumming grouse.
Out maybe ten minutes and I looked down at my pants.
At least two dozen ticks, deer ticks, smaller than ants.
Aaah! I aborted the mission and returned to the house.
It’s the little things that get you and then I did cuss.
I recently posted an image on Facebook,
A lemon poppy seed muffin a baker did cook.
In amongst the poppy seeds were five deer ticks.
The viewer is challenged to find them, just for kicks.
My old friend in the cities commented that she could see none,
“I don’t know what they look like, I’ve never seen one.”
Never seen one?! These vermin are a part of our daily lives,
March through November; Anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, and Lymes.
I had ehrlichiosis once, sicker than sick.
Miserable and misdiagnosed, that darn tick.
My old friend is from (made anonymous by me),
She is 4 foot something, rather short.
As a high school student, she fought the school policy that girls could not wear jeans.
She won against the school board, the likes of her they had never seen.
She grew up to be an attorney,
Not an easy journey!
We met in St. Paul,
(anonymous)
Sidewalks, paved roads, manicured lawns, brick buildings — no sticks.
Concrete — that’s my point — in a world of concrete there are no ticks!
In my world there are more and more ticks,
Climate change + logging = more deer and therefor more ticks.
I’ll take my world, I do feel safe at home, except for that darn tick,
And I’ll never trust a lemon poppy seed muffin again, not even a lick!

There is more but for today, this is it! And a real hit. Join us on the eighth of the month for rhyme. It really is a great time! And even my corny gets likes! And so would yours, no matter the topic, even hikes! See how we get the rhyme. Nonsense I know but it was time!
