Haiku Poetry - Beautiful Babies and Our Five Senses
(A Haiku for each sense from a newborn babyβs perspective)
Touch
I can feel your touch
Harsh on my soft newborn skin
A feel of warmth, love
ππππ
Sight
I canβt see you yet
But I can sense you are near
I sense light as sight
ππππ
Taste
Yes, I can sense taste
Sweet, sour, salty, bitter
I like sweet tastes best
ππππ
Hear
I can hear strange sounds
Loud noises, they startle me
Soothing sounds I like
ππππ
Smell
My smell sense is good
Especially my mumβs scent
Itβs my saving grace
ππππ
Senses come alive
Combining as they should
Thatβs why Iβm so cute.
ππππ
[Author's note: I have written two poems about senses previously
A haiku set about a blind person's senses:
and one that is a septet poem about our senses and the world around us:
