You had a way with words.

But, now,

I can't taste your sweetness.

I can't smell your essence.

I can't hear your unique voice.

I can't touch your soft skin.

I can't see your exquisite body.

Intuition tacitly confirmed

that you were gone.

Writer's notes: There is a sixth sense intuition sometimes referred to as gut feeling. All the senses inspired my poem.

This poem is submitted to the Sensational Challenge. "The Prompt

Write a poem inspired by the five senses.

The five senses - sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell - are not only the key ways in which we interact with the world around us, but also the key ingredients to crafting a sensory poem that can transport the reader to another place and time.

Through a sensory poem, a poet can evoke emotions, memories, and experiences by using descriptive and emotive language that engages the reader's senses. A sunset can be described through the use of vivid colors and striking imagery to capture the reader's sense of sight. The aroma of freshly baked bread can be depicted through the use of sensory language to activate the reader's sense of smell. A cool breeze can be described through language that evokes the reader's sense of touch."

You have a way with words to bring across to your audience with such ease, something so obscure, that it can be felt through our memories of moments much like it, and through our hearts the torture we feel when reality isn’t matching up with our intuition.

  • I remember this, great poem

There is indeed a sixth sense and often it's stronger than the other 5. Well done.

    nice poem, Babs

  • Your poem covers the loss of sense in all aspects when someone or something is lost.

so sad but so well written!

  • Absence, does it make the heart grow fonder, go wander, or simply miss someone/thing it can no longer even define? Evocative.
