Growing Tomatoes
Trying to be frugal and sustainable

Frugality is a way of life,
that I value a lot,
slowly, but surely,
I am embracing this trait.
Let me share examples,
how I follow this principle,
in an attempt,
to be sustainable.
When I cut tomatoes,
to cook, I save the seeds
and put in containers.
In a few days of care,
the seedlings appear.
When few inches tall,
I transplant on the ground.
The kitchen garbage
goes into a compost pile,
and I use that fertilizer
to nourish the seedlings.
In few months,
the tomatoes form,
and ripen under the sun.
My kids harvest them,
deriving much fun.
They learn the process
of farm to table.
I can’t tell you,
how joyful and satisfying,
it is to grow food,
from scratch,
without spending much.
A dash of frugality is a good thing for everyone. ~ Jason Chaffetz

This is a great idea! We eat a lot of tomatoes, I should try this!
They're free from all sorts of chemicals too. Loved your poem!
