For them.

For you.

For them.

You woke up in sadness.

You woke up in pain.

You woke up to shame, the blame, the bitter words untamed.

-

You woke up in silence.

Awakened from fear.

You woke up…. “You’re everything you’re not. Why are you here?”

-

You fell asleep in tears.

Dreamt inside the loss.

Falling asleep, your heart beat slowed, layering with frost.

-

You stayed awakened in madness,

You laid awake through rage,

Awake, you sifted moments, searching a single forgiving page.

-

You stayed here for your Mother.

Found strength for your Dad.

Staying for the people you love, everyone you will and have.

-

You should stay for you now.

You should stay here for your soul.

Stay for the little you inside, that was loved and full and whole.

-

Please choose now to love them,

Guide them from your minds dark space,

Leaving this life - no time cut short,

But aged, wrinkled, a smile on your face.

About the Creator

Latisha Fairfull

Writing a record for my inner child and the woman I am still learning to stand beside.

Not poetry for answers,

But poetry for breath,

For noticing,

And choosing to live from the inside out.
