A guest in fur
That does so purr
It saunters when it walks
Fast like a blur
Then still, not stir,
It's prey it carefully stalks
It has a coat
It shines, to gloat
With mittens on its socks
It chirps a note
Reverbs its throat
To us, they do so talk
Though covered in fluff
They are so tough
A predator in disguise
They do not ruff
They strut their stuff
Forward, front-facing eyes
They will so climb
A tree they find
To claim all their land
They sleep most times
Till nighttime
Then hunt for prey as planned
They hunt for mice
Then play, not nice
To toy with their food
They're skilled, precise
They exercise
Their hunting skills, they're good
If you give a treat
They'll take a seat
And loaf upon your lap
Yes, though it's neat
And very sweet
You're stuck to take a nap
They lick their paws
Sharpen their claws
They love to take self care
They respond to names
And they love some games
They're more than just aware
If you're alone
Just in your home
They follow from room-to-room
They like to roam
But stay in your zone
They follow, zip and zoom
They rub their head
Their scent, they spread
You're marked as their domain
Though words aren't said
Their fur is shed
Their love, it still remains
Not just food they ate
Not just their plates
They want to see you too
They sit and wait
Right at the gate
Hoping for you to walk through
Their eyes are wide
Their time, they bide
They'll loaf upon a mat
They play and hide
They have much pride
For they are the cats
