Flames, and what replaced them.
This poem took me a very long time to write, and even after reading and rereading it, I'm still unsure where my mind was, which I'm very aware is not the exact goal of a poet. Still, I know in my heart these words where assembled for a purpose. Thank you for reading.

You've come here, out of the flames that is your life's work, and you demand my attention.
You grab my scared wrist, and scream into my face, spitting hot coals into the back of my throat, leaving my hands blackened and shaking, as the tears rolls down my face, my body's last attempts to extinguish the presence of you, the water droplets singe, evaporating from my skin.
Abandoning me, within the flames.
As hard and as long as I've fought, I can't ignore the side of my face that burns when I lay against your chest.
I feel warm.
Cradled in your warm embrace, as the stench of flesh burning rises to the tip of my nose, I know now your fever has reached the temple of my head, and escape is impossible.
As your breath pumps up my lungs with your black tar and hatred, I see something glimmer within your eye's-
I see the person who loved me.
The soft and gentle hands that used to play with my fingertips, I see the deep blue eye's of the sea monster who carried me into the deepest darkest blue with each glance, we swam closer and closer the Mecca.
I see you.
As the smoke clouds my eye's again, I know you've suffocated within the black soot. Every time I'm in your presence I feel the inside of my skull ignite into flames, and as my lips slowly pucker outwards, and my teeth clench, tighter and tighter, I know -
I know the deep dark blue is dried, and Mecca was lost.
We are nothing but ash, Floating through the atmosphere, blackened bones, broken teeth, and hollow screams, replace us.
