Feeling Lost
When We Feel Uncertain and Unable to Ask For Help
This is a short sonnet on feeling lost, and hoping that things will turn out better, but we need others to be there for us as much as we are there for them

Why is it there are some who cannot see
I am always here where I am wanted
I try my hardest and am regarded
By some who see the truly real me

When I am the one unnoticed by you
I am locked outside in the wilderness
I want to be inside, togetherness
Lifts me, inspires me, makes my feelings true
*
I want to move forward , I want to share
I want to know your mind, and where I stand
I am a good person, of that I’m sure
But out in the cold I doubt, am aware
I may be forever lost. Understand
Be there for me, please be my rescuer

Mountain Climbing
My first villanelle did not stick to the true form which was pointed out quite rightly by John Welford . Taking his words on board I used "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas as a guide to produce this as a tribute to the hard work of The Vocal Social Society Team.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
