It is more than just dragons

Although they offer heights on their scaly wings.

It is more than just magic

Although that presents respite from a world where it seldom shows.

It is more than a quest

Although seeking a reason to move forward is the way.

It is more than different beings

Although seeing what we're not can tell us what we share.

It is more than caves or cities in the sky

Although discovery of delights in new places should never be discounted.

It is more than make believe -

It is imagination, stretching itself like a sleeping giant,

An enormity untapped,

And showing us of what we are made.

We are not corners; we are not manufactured;

We are a swirling mass of magic:

If we could only see it, the fantasy is us.

Lovely, Rachel. I especially like: We are a swirling mass of magic: If we could only see it, the fantasy is us. It paints such a mystery

  • The nation of imagi! What a wonderful place to live.

This is another wonderful dose of magic poetry, Rachel! I loved 'we are not corners' and 'we are a swirling mass of magic!' And that pic is perfect for your poem, too! Separate topic/question. My wife is watching a mystery series that takes place in Wales - Hidden, and in the show its always gloomy or raining outside. In fact, she said - it's even gloomy in doors. Is Wales really that gloomy and wet?

Oh. Those last two lines - gosh. Sometimes it’s easy to get sucked into all the negativity and remember how amazing things (we) are. Fab, Rachel.

Well-wrought! In all my years ruminating on what it is that distinguishes the human animal from the rest, I always come back to imagination. You've captured that in the most postive way here.
