Surrounding me are evidence of those I have loved
The warmth and influence on even the smallest choices
Curled under a caccoon of experiences
Pushed along by their echoing voices
Deep purple drapes above the sofa
A grandmothers homemade boysenberry jam
Threads woven with affection spin above the doorway
Carefully twisted from the sheddings of a lamb
Bits of grey across every worn surface
Feline adoration that clings to every cloth
Floral designs stretching across the walls
Carefully chosen patterns each as delicate as a moth
Multi colored residue splashed across the desk
Layers of successes, failures, and tests
Pale scratches creep along the corners
Stories of frantic nights without rest
Teal flutters over the bedroom windows
A lovers inclination for the oceans calming tones
Two sets of preferences melded into one
Shared space lined with a blend of how they have grown
Emerald leaves brush against the fence
Life sprouted from packets of pebbles
Aged brown wood of instruments forgotten
A past filled with fading bases and trebles
Garnet quilts spread across the abode
Meticulously crafted by those from afar
Hues of ancient stones collected and broken
A crystalized rainbow condensed to a jar
Environment created by the words interchanged
A melting pot of ideas swirling in my mental sea
Decisions made not simply by others own predilections
Instead made by me, a will that is free.
