First Frost

The tales of summer, ended

Autumn, her frills, released

As frost, it’s chill, ascended

Covering with frozen peace

Pearls of icy treasures

Envelope all within her grasp

As soft and wispy feathers

Cover the landscape in her path

Respite comes in quiet breezes

Breathing in gusts of ice and haze

As her beauty grows and pleases

Cast water vapors, for display

Precipitation in new form

Each unique surface masked and molded

Blanketed mysteries forlorn

Cleverly embellished and unfolded

As she weaves her magic spell

Like sugar sprinkled on horizons

Powdered imprints gently held

Reflect its likeness to the sunshine

Transparent luminosity

Revealed, mirrored in a glossy frost

Creating curiosities

All while Mother Nature yawns

This is a poem that speaks winter, and I could taste the frost on the tree.
