Down
The Beginning of Grief
Photo by Giorgio Trovato on Unsplash
Your words fell
Losing their footing
As they tumbled
Down the stairs
Your voice cracked
Losing its strength
As it shattered
Against the walls
Your eyes swelled
Losing their glow
As they cried
Into my shoulder
Your hand squeezed
Losing its warmth
As it trembled
Against my palm
Your gaze faded
Losing its light
As it collapsed
Onto the ground

This hit home for me, Alyssa! Really feel the pain and disappointment of the narrator! Well done and congrats on Top Story!!
Back to say congratulations on your top story ♥️🤗🎊🎉🎊
What a beautiful poem about grief and loss. It really touched me personally, given something that happened just a couple months ago. I hope this isn’t autobiographical, but I know that poetry often is. If it is, I’m sorry for what inspired it. 💜 Congrats on the Top Story!

Hi, I have recommended this for a Top Story in Raise Your Voice here https://shopping-feedback.today/resources/raise-your-voice-thread-09-11-2025%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Now that's what I'm talking about. Vocal making a decision that makes sense. Congrats on your Top Story, Alyssa! Great to see your name up there! :)
Stunning.
Ooo somebody's words fell. And it, as if they had feet, lost its footing. I love that. From tumbling to a voice crack. Wow, the connection to both aspect was smooth. I like how you used the walls too, not just the stairs. Eyes swelling. Losing it's glow. I like how you prepared us for the tears before they happened. The hands even lost its warmth. I could feel the person here. I like that the ending didn't give resolve to the feeling. This was powerful, because sometimes this is the way it is. Fantastic work, Alyssa 🤗❤️
Another gorgeous poem, Alyssa. Parts of it, especially the second half, made me sad. Hope all is well ❤️
This is stunning, Alyssa. Sorry if this is based on autobiographical stuff - as I know most of your poetry is. Hope you're okay. But, this is a great poem, either way!
The image and the words fit together perfectly, grief can do that to you
