Demonic Oppression

The Battle’s Not With Flesh and Blood

By Earl W. PearlPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

It’s said that a Christian cannot be possessed

Since demons can’t live where the Lord’s paying rent

But that doesn’t mean that we can’t be oppressed

And that is sufficient for this, my lament

Not every addiction’s about doing drugs

Oppressive depression takes root in the heart

Depression’s that nuisance that constantly bugs

And like drugs, if oppressive, will tear us apart

Impulsive the thoughts running free in my head

So damning this weakness I struggle to fight

Repulsive the feelings I’m left with instead

Too frightened to fail but afraid that I might

What prayer must I pray for oppression to quell

Still seeking why God isn’t setting me free

Just how can some doubt the existence of hell

When the hell some are living’s so easy to see

fact or fiction
