Dear Narcissist

Part IV

You could be found

With a paintbrush in hand

And a canvas shaded

With the colour of

Misdirection

You acted out

The part of the martyr well

For someone with so much

Blood on their hands

You sketch pictures

Of your faults and then

Tell me they are mine

You paint me as

Your villain

I write you as

My narcissistic

Nightmare

The world might

Never know which

Of us to believe but

I know whose flaws

Belong to who and

Only one of us

Projects our own

Onto the other

    "Narcissist nightmare." So well done.

  • The truth almost always lies somewhere in between, though often much closer to one side than the other. And when one side is projecting....

The projection is so real, in toxic relationships like the one you're describing. I'm glad that you're able to see things clearly for what they were!! Keep purging the wound, I can feel your words growing more resolute and less frenzied/injured in the progression of this series.

    Amazing poem! It's so relatable

It reminds me so strongly of how it feels to realise someone has been Gaslighting when we are in a low place. And knowing that is actually all them, not really you is so empowering.

  • Man, is this relatable. Great series

This series is cathartic, the ending in this one is empowering and reassuring: I know who’s flaws Belong to who and Only one of us Projects our own Onto the other On point, beautifully expressed, Poppy.

  • Colour of misdirection! I loved that one so much! Your poem was fantastic!
