Poppy's Preferences Pt1
Underrated Discoveries: Showcasing less-read stories in the poets community
So I've been checking out some posts in the Poets community and discovering some authors I didn't know about. I also recently read Paul Stewart's Vocal Deep Cuts Series and Vocal's fortnightly Raise Your Voice Thread (at least I think it's fortnightly?) and had the idea to do something similar by sharing some of my favourite recent poetry and prose I stumbled across.
If you like this idea, let me know and I might make it a series!

Edit: Unfortunately, the majority of these poems have been removed from the series, either because the creator has deleted the poem/ account, or because it was discovered to be uncredited AI. However, I've decided to leave it up for the introduction to the series and the remaining poems which still deserve recognition.

Stretch out the Summer by Cezarina Trone
This is one of my favourite poems I've read recently. I cannot even begin to describe how good every line was. You'll have to read it to understand.
Storming by Suze Kay
Okay this poem probably already has a bunch of reads so doesn’t technically fit with what I was aiming for BUT I am absolutely obsessed with it and had to share it because I think everyone should read it!! I think it deserves top story.

Thanks for reading and don't forget to let me know if you would like to see this made into a series!

OH is that what happened? I noticed the links were missing and I wondered! Wow, that sucks. I'm not enjoying the AI confusion, ngl. I love these poems! Suze is always amazing, isn't she? I thought I'd commented! And "Stretch Out Summer" was a very unique read; quite lovely. I'm sorry I've been neglecting this series, Poppy. I'm going to binge it and catch up! I've fallen so behind for many of my favorite creators.
You are absolutely right about Cezarina’s beautiful poem, thank you for this! The next three have been removed from Vocal (AI content). On my very first Lust For Words article a few weeks back I too included Errol on my list as I was unaware it was a plagiarised AI poem. Ashley Lima wrote a great article on how to spot AI poems… I link it in my LFW’s 2… definitely helped me a lot and now it’s quite obvious. We live and learn! Great series though, I love these because I find so many gems that I I wouldn’t have otherwise found ❤️✨🙏
Great selection, Poppy! I read these a several days ago & apparently got distracted before commenting.
Just followed this from your follow-up post , some excellent recommendations and thank you for sharing
The only poem I've read from this list is A Symphony of Life by Errol Shakespeare and absolutely loved it! I'll need to check out the others! And yes, please make this a series!
First of all, thank you for the shout-out/mention of my own piece in the intro and secondly, thank you for this fine list of creators and their beautiful work. I was only subscribed to Suze before reading your list. I am now subscribed to the others too - loved every single one of these and would definitely read another list like this! Great work, Poppy!
I think this is a great idea! These were gorgeous stories that I hadn't seen before. Awesome!
Thank you so much for giving me a place on this list! You are absolutely right that these other poems deserve recognition - great creative work.
I found some great new poets (for me) to follow. Thanks
Thank you for the list!
