Dancing With You Forever
Poem inspired by the Cohen song "Dance Me to the End of Love"

The day you took me dancing,
I knew we’d be together forever,
dancing till the stars –
faded from the sky.
Our love going so deep,
your heart I want to keep,
never be far from my side –
so I can be dancing with you forever.
Always till the end of time,
till there are no more rhymes,
the stars no longer shine,
rainbows faded to black and white –
I know you’ll still be mine.
Just never thought,
what would happen,
if the angels took you dancing,
while I waited my turn,
knowing for a long time, it would not come.
Now you’re dancing along the Milky Way,
but I had to stay,
alone with my memories,
of a love that continues shining bright.
The superglue ended yesterday,
it has always been that way,
nothing seems right anymore
and my heart is still in pieces.
Then you came to me,
vowing your love so true,
never meant to leave me alone and blue.
You’ll be waiting on the other side,
so now I put on our love songs,
rolling back the years,
threatening a veil of tears,
lighting a candle,
knowing you are close by.
While I long for the day,
we’ll be together once more,
in this life, I know you’ll guide me,
so as the music plays
and the memories come shining through,
in my dreams, I’ll go on dancing with you forever more.
