An Acrostic Poem
Daydreams dance on morning dewdrops,
In costumes spun with feathered laces,
Sailing high, near heaven’s rooftop,
Tranquil smiles upon their faces.
Reflection razed by harsh reality,
As daylight brings the blinding sun.
Concepts ripe of human mortality,
Tender hearts powerless to outrun.
Introspective musings tossed and torn,
Of daydreams’ dance in the dew of morn, and
Nightmares nestled in midnight thorns.

This reminds me of my favorite type of music—deceptively cheerful melodies with melancholy lyrics. I love the dichotomy of starting the poem with daydreams and ending it with nightmares. How perfect that you describe harsh reality of blinding sun in the middle, because it makes me think of afternoons. There’s the promise of each morning, and the let down of each sundown, considering all the things we didn’t accomplish that haunt our dreams, but the middle of the day is when there’s no time to dream or reflect at all. It just is what it is. Amazing work as usual, and congrats on Top Story! 🥂
