it's oh so easy

too damn easy

right now, right here

we can blame

technology

it's oh so easy

too damn easy

right here, right now

you can tweet or x a celeb or random rando, how much you hate them, how fat they are, how thin they are, tell them to die, that you're going to kill them, actual bodily harm

as if it was playing a game

it's oh so easy

too damn easy

right now, right here

we can blame

technology

it's oh so easy

too damn

you see something you don't like, don't understand, don't care for or maybe even despise, something harmless, not the war in Gaza or Cali wildfires, and you spit and spew your dumbfuck opinion view, cos freedom of speech,

it's so so easy

too fucking easy

right here, right now

we can't keep blaming

technology

it's so easy

too

you, in your infinite wisdom because, fuck taking the long path to greatness, why not take the short path and steam from another, you see someone's work, someone's beautiful (or damn fucking awful) work and think, I can just copy, paste, reformat, replace names and faces, with my own scumbag mugshot

it's oh so easy

too damn easy

who really suffers when it's just pixels on a screen, when your filthy palms are pristine and clean?

we need to blame

society

or the shiteating, creeps

who take, take, take

what isn't theirs

they fully realise, what they're doing, the game they're playing, and okay, a poem is just a poem, it's not the end of the world, wait, why would you even use that excuse?

oh, cos it's too damn easy

my little poem, or huge epic, includes a smidgen or, more often than not, a large percentage of me

my blood, my skin, my heart, my soul, as black and as red, my trials, my tribulations, my wins and my losses, are all woven into the fabric of that poem, wrapped in my entrails and a fine veneer of my skin

so when you take, take, take my piece, you take, take, take me

plagiarius comes from the Latin for trap, snare, and kidnapper.

victim-less crime? kidnapping the truth, repackaging it and making it dirtier than your hands you try to keep so clean.

you kidnap words so easily, but would you really have the gall, the gumption to kidnap a person?

take them, cuff them, bind them, blind them with a fold or rag across their eyes, muffle them gag them with undies or a cloth or maybe something kinkier?

I doubt it?

Take them to an undisclosed location and ransom them off for hard cash, like you do their work?

I doubt it

not so fucking easy, is it?

unless you're behind your computer

Mic drop! Well said, Paul! If only they'd read a piece like this before they try and steal it. And really captured the horrible things that get said when someone dehumanizes someone else, really shows the heart of people

Ahh the rage poem. So satisfying to write! I sincerely hate plagiarism. On the same level as spammers and scam artists in my book; usually a similar thought process of easy gains mixed with no morals. How long did this one take you? I always wonder with stream of consciousness poems. :D

Totally appropriate Paul. Plaster this ish EVERYWHERE!!!

Nice rage filled piece! A couple of things, “as if it was playing a game” I liked this line a lot.. the way people talk online about celebrities etc, not in a general way but an abusive fashion. I also didn’t know you had veneer on your skin?! Probably goes with those sparkly eyes from the other day I expect. Did I learn nothing from this piece. I’m trying my hardest to be nice.😅 I heard about the plagiarism on fb but am yet to read M Combs’ piece.

  • Say it louder for the people at the back!! Just today a profile that plagiarised two of my stories got banned. Took 2 weeks of reporting though. Vocal gotta do something about this

This is very thought-provoking and points towards a deep understanding of breaking, twisting, and transforming things to make them your own. Absolutely brilliant, Sir ✨

Couldn’t have said it any better. So bloody frustrating when people steal your work.

That’s a powerful take on the ease of taking something that isn’t yours. Definitely a strong statement!

This is one way to get your point across in dealing with this. Good job.

Yay! Your title said it all.... Loved it, Sir 🤝 I hope this becomes a TS so more people can read it.

Darker than the source material, but very true to the times we live in.

What a poem! It's so true... It's easy to blame it on technology, on the ease, but it's not the tech. It's the user. It is so much easier to be unoriginal now, it is so much easier to copy and paste, to type a prompt into a non human generator, a machine, to create or even just summarize. Too many people utilize the scheme (scam) of things, and exploit the original (or the unoriginal) for their own agenda.

Yes to every word you said! 💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 So annoying, people are so money-hungry and just want to be seen so bad. Great poem.

This is great, Paul!! Just awesome! I love the whole vibe and slam of this piece! Everything is perfectly written. Maybe this flame that is flaring up will draw Vocal's attention and they'll realize how important this is to us. Thank you for the tag.
