Consider the Stars

A sky of celestial wonder

The night sky

a canvas of celestial wonder

painted upon a midnight black

The moon, a luminous sphere

shares the sky with the stars

The brightest stars

the ones more faint,

all illuminate the sky

These same stars have been with the same earth,

the same moon

have seen civilizations come and go

the prehistoric man, the ancients, the curious eyes of modern man,

they've all stared up at this same sky, at these same stars

These stars have seen humans and their technology evolve over time

One day, life might parish, but the stars will remain

for just another billion years, another trillion more

Count the stars

ten, one hundred, a thousand

billions, and trillions

a number too infinite for the mind to comprehend

The distance between galaxies too unfathomable

Is there life out there?

What's beyond the stars I see?

I wonder if there is a being somewhere out there

in a distant galaxy wondering the same thing

as they gaze up at the stars
