The Tastes of Rainbow

Droplets of colors fall like raindrops

A rainbow of colors scatters all about

Hues of vibrant reds, electric greens, soft baby blues

I reach out to touch them, curiosity entices me

Would the taste of such colors be as good as they look?

I hold out my hand and catch a drop that’s deep crimson red

Red like blood but tastes like spicy cinnamon candy

Its flavor lingering on the tongue

Orange is exhilarating, the drop explodes on my tongue,

into a burst of cool, refreshing flavor

I reach out and let a drop of yellow fall on my hand

tasting it before it evaporates

Yellow is energizing, more exhilarating than orange, I can’t decide

It leaves a sour yet sweet taste on the tongue

like summertime lemonade

The taste of green catches me by surprise

An earthy flavor like harvested leafy kale

with hints of rosemary and thyme

Blue is noticeably sweet like cotton candy

as it melts on the tongue

I eagerly let a drop of purple

the most enchanting color of all fall on my tongue

Would its taste be as alluring as its look?

The taste explodes, strong and vibrant,

like the most sophisticated cocktail

I want to savor the flavor as long as I can

Once purple’s flavor fades, I look out towards the many drops

deciding what color to taste again
