Coming out as multi-color

A poem about coming out, leaving the past self behind, and learning to see color again

By Sol PajkowskiPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

She’s a multi-colored sheep

Made of both gold and coal

Graduated with high honors

And with her own beliefs

She drinks so she doesn’t remember

Why she regrets it the next morning

She’s pink, purple, and blue

But her mom sees it black and white

Right-handed, left-minded

A ragdoll sewn together

With a dress covering all her patches

They are the heart of the doll

They do not want pink or blue

They are still black and white

But also yellow and purple

They see each color for it’s magnificence

And helps others to the beauty of the rainbow

They are named for the sun after a long winter

Allowing the trees to blossom after the cold

They are proud of their patches

And many, many stitches

And they know a sheet of coal

Will turn into a diamond
