love me in red

the way a ray of sun hits the sky

Like a vein from my arm to you

Red like the rose left in a vase

Or in the dirt for a bee

Red like my lips on our date

When I left a mark on your neck

To find when you went home

**

Love me in blue

From lake to sea

Blue like your face when you see me cry

And you want to take away the pain

Blue like my eyes

The way you see me as I want to be seen

Love me in red and blue

love poems

Very beautifully requested Jazzy. Love works best in red, passion inflamed into true feelings. Congrats.

Ahh the contrast here is startling, and utterly gorgeous, Jazzy. "Like a vein from my arm to you Red like the rose left in a vase Or in the dirt for a bee" "Blue like my eyes The way you see me as I want to be seen" These are my favorites. Such deep emotion, well captured.

Ah, I remember this. Had to come for a reread. I would have judged this as placing. Although I do love the winning entries, your disappointment is understandable. It's still (all the more!) a masterful wave of verse, and wears its Top Story proudly! Superb.

    Beautiful !

  • You have such a grasp of imagery that creates an almost ethereal reaction when it's read. LOVE this! 💗

  • Jazzy I love this so much! I admit I have never been a big fan of poetry because I didn't understand it, but I get this and what you are saying. You are what poets should be!!

Jazzy, you are sensational. This is wonderful. Between you and Naomi I can't now choose. Oh dear. Great TS.

This poem beautifully captures the emotions of love through the imagery of colors, specifically red and blue. The use of colors as metaphors adds depth and intensity to the feelings expressed in each stanza. In the first part, "Love me in red," the color red symbolizes passion, desire, and intense emotions. The comparison of love to a ray of sun hitting the sky evokes a sense of brightness and warmth. The image of a vein connecting two people emphasizes the depth of the emotional connection, suggesting that their love is an essential part of their existence. The reference to the rose left for a bee adds a touch of bittersweetness, hinting at the transient and delicate nature of love. Hope am right, haha

  • I got halfway through and had to start again. I was making some hot lime juice and suddenly became aware I was reading something truly beautiful. I needed to stop to give it the attention it deserves. I’m also typing this left handed as my right is still covered in lime juice 😅 Apparently I really couldn’t wait to order my love for this work! ❤️
