Chrysalis
Transformation through depression (A Drabble)

She quietly rested on the branch. She neither was her old self, nor yet who she would become.
Some called her slow; inside her cocoon, silence and wisdom protected her.
Time passed; memories changed, fears revealed, something changed every time she slept.
Suddenly, one morning, light passed through. The shell broke, with effort and ache, to something new. She felt fragile, unsure, vulnerable.
She didn’t fly right away. She sat quietly, feeling, becoming her new self.
When she finally took flight, it wasn’t perfection she carried; it was proof that transformation is never pretty, never painless, yet it’s always possible.

Oh, my gosh, I missed this, and am sorry for being late to the party. This is stunning work, Susan, and personally, this part hits home: "Suddenly, one morning, light passed through. The shell broke, with effort and ache, to something new. She felt fragile, unsure, vulnerable." Vulnerable and unsure, but I move forward with an inner peace, one I haven't known for a long time.
A great drabble, Susan. I really liked how you captured the transformation.
This poem is so touching, Susan. Of course, I hope you are okay. I know not all poems are a self reflection, but your words came from somewhere deep, and I hope now that you're flying you'll always know better things await and that transformation will always bring something new ♥️
I love this! Butterflies have a beautiful way of showing us what strength looks like when they first take flight.
That last part is soooo true! Loved your story!
A wonderful last line on the process
profound and so well expressed!!
Gorgeous work Susan! I see that our latest poems are in sync! 😁🌸
This is a beautiful life message.
This is beautiful. Quiet, gentle, a little bit unsure and beautiful.
This, Susan, was fab.
