Christmas Cheer

A Collection

By Mother CombsPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

There once hung a tinsel so fine,

On a star-topped tree, it did shine.

With a shimmer and gleam,

It made Christmas seem,

A magical time, so divine.

***********************

Silver tinsel shines on star-topped tree

🎄

Christmas cheer glee fills the air.

🎄

Red and green door wreath hung

🎄

Stockings all ready for special treats

🎄

Brightly wrapped gifts packed with care

🎄

***********************

Silver tinsel shines

On a star-topped tree, so white,

Christmas cheer ignites.

🎄

Mistletoe and spruce

Decorated with red bows

A wreath hung with love

***********************

Christmas time comes but once a year

Reminding all of the things that they hold dear

With baubles and tinsel strewn on fir trees

Charcuteries paired with social crackers and exotic cheese

Tabletops decorated with candied houses of spiced gingerbread

Children running around with reindeer antlers atop their heads

Snow-topped houses decorated with seasonal lights

Everyone outside for sledding and snowball fights

Back inside for warmth and cookies with hot cocoa

Family trying to sit still for a group holiday photo

Grandma’s famous turkey and dressing recipe

Tuning the radio to an old Christmas melody

Aunts, Uncles, cousins, oh my

Friends, neighbors, the people just multiply

Carolers singing Noels at your door

Young girls blushing under mistletoe lore

While the boys show off their football moves

Walking in the horse-drawn sleigh’s grooves

Checking the stockings that were hung with such care

Receiving festive pajamas to wear

Everyone in their ugly Christmas sweaters

Play fetch with Irish Setters

Cousins gathered for a sleepover

For breakfast, everyone has an apple turnover

Adults gathering to share a beer

While everyone spreads Christmas cheer

Come near, sit a spell, and listen to tales of old as I sit and rock by my fire. I'll serve you some cocoa and cookies as I tell you of the time long gone by when your Greats-greats once lived.
