Cerulean & Cyaneous: deep blue in color like a clear sky

My Connection: My favorite color is blue, especially light and bright shades. I also love to look at the sky whether I'm outside or catching glimpses through my windows.

My Acrostic Poem:

Cloudless sunny day and I’ve got the blues

Every shade between baby and sapphire

Refreshing shades, not the miserable ones

Until rain falls and steeps them in grayscale

Leaving hues of storm and steel in their place

Even those I crave with sad song lyrics

And yet I’m addicted to electric

Nothing quite like the allure of azure

***

Celestial iris, just out of reach

Yearning to be filled up with helium

Ascend to join cumulus company

Nerves soothed out by the canopy of calm

Energy recharged by releasing sighs

One more second becomes several minutes

Until it’s past time to go back inside

Stuck sneaking peeks out my open windows

These are very beautiful words. I find acrostic poems to be so difficult, but you set it up nicely

Love your poem, especially the twist on "I've got the blues". 😁

We use the term "shades of gray" to describe a sort of blase ambiguity in everyday life, but here you've keyed us in to the idea that each color has its shades, to be explored rather than endured! Well-wrought!

What a sweepingly gorgeous acrostic, D.K.! Some seriously exquisite lines and wording in here. Really love all the expressions and shades and blue!

  • I've heard of cerulean and cyan but not cyaneous. So that's a new word for me. Loved both your Acrostics!

Both are impressive; I especially liked the tantalizing nature of the first line of CYANEOUS.

I love that your favourite colour is blue and how elegantly you painted us a picture of the blue world you live in! I adore the metaphorical and literal meaning of that first line regarding you having the blue!! Just so clever!!

Wonderful, exhilarating, beautiful. The best blues happen in the sky and the seas. Loved your colors and your evocation of them in your poem, DK!
