By Firefly Light

A poem of Nostalgia

By Shianne JacksonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Neigh far from the porch bound wooden rockers

Hidden in the tall grassy yard of green

Koi fish play in the garden of waters

A time before taxes and caffeine

Down down went the sun while my spirit soared

Ten years and still they never failed to come

As calm crickets chirp and the wind does roar

On Summer Nights Nocturnal I become

In the still darkness wonder fills my eye

For just like the stars shine each firefly

One by one they illuminate the sky

Like a warm embrace To personify

And even now as their lights dance and twirl

I feel as if I'm still a little girl
