Butterflies

Love Isn’t

By Courtney JohnsonPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

Love isn’t in the butterflies

of a twisting, twirling gut.

It’s in persevering

when life feels like a rut.

Love is is the kisses

when you’re heading out the door.

It’s in picking up the children’s toys

and cleaning up the floor.

Love is in cups of coffee

with the right amount of cream,

and in hours spent together

planning out your dream.

Love isn’t in that magnet pull,

nor in a charming grin.

These are just some places

where true love can begin.

Butterflies are wonderful,

but butterflies don’t stay.

Please don’t be disappointed

when they up and fly away.

Loving is a choice you make,

and sometimes it’s not fun.

I’ll choose to love you every day,

until our time is done.
