Break Up with Junk Like Forgetful Jones

A Nonet Poem on Breaking Up with the Strife that No Longer Serves Us.

This is for Mikeydred's Truly July challenge. If you wish to participate and are unsure of the requirements, do read about them here

Sesame Street was a staple as I, and many others, grew up. It's where I learned the alphabet, and the show gave my knowledge of numbers its shape. Famous Jim Henson Muppets who starred in the show included Bert, Ernie, and everyone's favorite grouch, Oscar. But it's not these loveable characters I want to focus on today.

Why? Today, July 15, is the birthday of one of my favorite but lesser-known plushes, Forgetful Jones. As his name suggests, he is memory-challenged. And the challenge leads to much hilarity.

Like all his other muppet buddies, he teaches a thing or two. In his case, he shows us the beauty of forgetting.

Yes, forgetting. To break up with, or forget, the things that no longer serve us.

Forgetful Jones doesn't remember the past so well, and that has its advantages..It declutters our memory -we are human and do have limited RAM.  It allows us to forgive and maintain harmonious relationships. We let go of regrets. And finally, we do make better decisions.

This little Nonet ode to Forgetful Jones reminds us to break up with things in the past that hold us back. But let's hope he doesn't forget his own birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to Forgetful Jones

You don't recall the bad seeds sown

Break up with strife that's ugly

Mind blank but tidy

Mends broken heart

Healing starts

And hurt

Ends.
