Bold Primrose
Poetry for the month of Feburary
This is for mikeydred's Feburary prompt.
Boldness triumphs -Michelle Liew
*******************************************
I woke before the world was due
Red petals, promises bright
Leaning towards the sky
That hid behind winter's veil.
*******************************************
"Too red," whispered the violets
"Too bright," chortled the daffodils.
"Too foolish," guffawed the oak.
*******************************************
Then -snow.
A chilling slap, a rigorous test.
My stem bent, broke, disappeared.
*******************************************
Spring came, all the same.
The daffodils swayed. The violets bloomed.
The oak displayed its strength.
*******************************************
Those who trod on the garden's path whispered
"See the primrose? She dared first."

When Spring comes it is an exciting time for me. When the daffodils start coming up and the crocuses pop their heads out. I have named flowers and plants but I have never thought of them as talking themselves- too red-too bright, but I will look at them much differently now. Beautifully done Michelle
Beautiful flowers and poem!😊💗💕
Wonderfully written poem. Primroses are beautifully inspiring
Beautiful, deeply feeling work Michelle! I'm with Jason, that last line is masterful.
Last line got me
Ohhh, this is stunning! The boldness, the defiance, the quiet triumph—it all hits so beautifully. That last line? Chills. The primrose may have bent, but it dared first. Absolutely love it!
