Blastoff!

7 am launch

The ship smells of cardboard

And painter’s tape

A successful mission?

until…

CRASH

“We’ve landed in lava!”

“Lava boots on!”

“We need to fix our ship to get out of here!”

Colorful orbs

Floating

“Those are hot! Don’t touch them!”

Lava monsters

Everywhere

With fluffy faces and beady eyes.

“Okay, all fixed!”

“Look out behind you!”

PEW PEW

“I got them!”

“The ship is ready”

“Laser shields are on, ready for take-off!”

Take-off is bumpy

But we make it home

a soft landing beneath blankets

The tiny astronaut looks at me

“Mommy, you is my one true love”
