Prehistoric times were filled with many a wonder,
fighting each other for bounties worthy of plunder.
Creatures with strength that rival any beast,
strive for the top in order to feast.
When two collide there's bound to be trouble,
and with more than one it'll always be double.
Food is scarce in this ancient time,
desires to eat force many to climb.
Even those who prefer not to push,
fight with their might despite bitten tush.
A prize will be won to whoever lasts the bout,
and those who lose will forever be out.
A battle begins upon spoken claim,
both are ready to beat and to maim.
Few certain blows end this small fight,
the winner eats his prize in delight.
The loser retreats but doesn't lose his nerve,
chances will rise and dinner he will serve.

piercing winter gloom camellia blooms softly such a lovely sight. In winter, in the arboretum and the yards in our region, camellias blooms. Camellia is a tea family plant with lovely flowers. In Japan, camellias have been painted very frequently. Here is one by me (watercolor).
