Balloons

How do you remember balloons -

You know, from back when you were a kid too?

I remember green ones, red ones and the occasional blue. However; my context is a little different than you.

I too recall childhood balloons, like all the normal kids do,

but as the wrapper around the grams of black tar heroin

my dad used to use.

See these so many colored balloons -

the green, the red and occasional blue,

would be the package that held my dad’s addiction together -

to get well, he had to consume.

The green ones, the red ones and the occasional blue,

he would stash these little gram filled colored cocoons.

Protecting the fix he kept in his cheek,

so he could swallow or spit if the LAW

popped! Before he could ditch it.

Dad used to say, that when he gets pinched,

he can swallow these colored balloons,

and still get his fix -

or,

sell it in the joint right after he shits.
