Arizona Voice

A stone is not so easily touched.

Murmurs of motion evoke something deep within

the layers of hardened earth.

An explosion of gravity erupts in the pit but

it will not show.

It will not grow into a thing;

an entity of it’s own

until it cannot be denied

when it’s alert and alive.

There are rules about passion

in a stone of that size.

The skin is shattered and the something breaks forth

in the form of liquid, seasoned with salt.

It drips down the edge

where the two lips part

when the radiating red

ends her arid demise.
