Lucifer

In the absence of light we fall -

the black descent

through the suffocation of night.

Walls enclose until escape is but a distant hope -

lost in the pit of deterioration.

The sun and his fellow moon fade -

consumed by the hate of man.

Only the waning hearts of a nation

beat their sporadic rhythm,

echoing throughout their final moments.

Jagged rock, shifting earth

crumble at the gates.

They open when one stands before

the molten keeper -

waiting for eternity.
