You no longer force things. Instead, you use his minimal feedback to magnify it into a compelling reason to stay. You no longer wait for him. Those who are willing to leave don't need to come back.

He doesn't want to go anywhere with you; he simply wants you to accompany him on his journey. You merely satisfy his needs, while he has nothing to offer you. The right person will stay and work through problems with you.
